Give the Gift of Comfort & Care
The world as we know it has changed, for everyone! We anticipate the need for refuge for the animals will be even greater than ever! Your donation today will provide critical funds and help us help those who need us most. If not directed, your donation will be put to use where it is needed most. Or, you may direct your donation to our Public Spay/Neuter Voucher Program, our Ninth Life Division Program, or our Canine Division.
Our Public Spay/Neuter Voucher Program provides no-cost vouchers to members of our community who need help to "do the right thing". Since the program's inception, we have funded over 3800 alter surgeries.
Our Ninth Life Division supports cats who have little hope of being adopted due to advanced age or significant health issues. These cats are placed in long term foster homes where they will be cared for and cherished for as long as they have left with us.
Our Canine Division serves as breed rescue for Chinese Shar Pei for all of Washington, Oregon & Idaho. We also rescue Great Danes, hairless breeds and all other dogs as space permits. The dogs are lovingly cared for in foster homes while they undergo whatever medical treatments are needed to bring them to their best, happiest, healthiest lives and ready for their forever homes. Ninth Life cats may be adopted into well qualified and committed homes, but if they never have that opportunity, they'll continue to be safe, loved, and cared for in their Ninth Life Division foster home.
Where it's needed most: MEOW has always held a no-holds-barred no-kill promise. We rescue and rehome 800 - 1000 animals annually and we will always welcome a MEOW animal back, no matter the reason. We rely on donations to provide funds for shelter and medical care. We are primarily a volunteer organization with minimal paid staff. We do not shy away from animals in need of extra care and we're often able to find forever homes for animals with special needs. Our motto, "all nine lives are precious" is woven into our mission statement, engraved on the hearts of our staff, volunteers and supporters, and serves as a daily reminder of our commitment.
Our goal is to help create a "no-kill nation", where people lovingly take responsibility for their pets; where every pet born will be assured loving care all of its natural life and will never suffer due to abuse, neglect or ignorance and the companion animal population is controlled by spay/neuter, not euthanasia.
Meet Jack Ryan - One of our Ninth Life Division Kitties
Jack Ryan is a love of a kitty. He is now about 16 years old. Because of his severe Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBD) issues as well as ongoing pain from having been declawed earlier in his life, he initially spent months at the shelter without being adopted. He would talk to people as they passed by his suite, letting them know that he'd love to meet them and maybe get a chin scratch or two. People would interview him, but his medical issues were daunting for most. He was certainly a shelter favorite, jumping on offered shoulders whenever possible, and seeing him wait and wait and wait for a forever home was hard on the staff and volunteers.
But all that changed three years ago when he was placed in his ninth life foster home. He gets lots and lots of attention, can sit on shoulders anytime he wants, or lounge in his favorite spot to watch TV with his family. His IBD and residual pain are managed with meds and supplements in order to keep him as comfortable as is possible. Perhaps there is a very special family out there who will see past his health issues and give him a forever home, but if not, he'll be safe, loved, and cared for by his loving ninth life division foster home for the rest of his life.
Your gift to our Ninth Life Division will help cats like Jack Ryan live a well deserved life in a home!
Here are just a few of the comments we've received recently from very grateful recipients of our no-cost spay/neuter vouchers. Your donation helps families with limited means spay or neuter their pets, giving them the gift of health and safety. What better gift is there than that?
"Thank you so much for your assistance. It is a Godsend for us."
"Thank you so much for your offer (to help place kittens). All of them have homes, I just haven't been able to find another job yet and I want them to be fixed when they go to their new homes, just wanted to make sure there were no Oops! kittens in their new homes :-)"
"Hello, thank you so much for this. There are no words to express how grateful we are."
