Be A Part of MEOW's Couch to 5K Fun Run/Walk for the Animals

We are asking you to take the challenge, train for our 5K with an easy, 12-week training program, and rally your friends, family, and networks to support our work. By training and being a fundraiser for Mercer Island-Eastside Orphans and Waifs (MEOW Cat Rescue), you will help us save more animals, start your year out on the right foot with respect to exercise, and you'll help your friends feel good about doing good.

Starting a fundraiser is easy to do, and it's fun. We'll even give you all the tools you'll need to make a difference. With your help we can enhance MEOW's ability to accept kittens, pregnant moms, and bottle babies into our system which means we are all helping to end pet homelessness and move closer to a time when every pet has a safe and loving home and doesn't suffer hunger or lack of companionship.

As for the training, it starts out slow and easy with two weeks of walking on January 30th. If you follow the 3-day per week training schedule, you'll be ready and fully prepared to run/walk the CAT Running 5K on April 22nd at Marymoor Park. On the rest days, we encourage you to try out some yoga (of course with the help of your furry friends). Please check with your physician before beginning any new physical regime to ensure you’re healthy enough to participate.

We have created a Facebook Group for people to share their experiences as they train and fundraise, ask questions, reach out to other participants, post photos of cat or dog yoga poses and just be part of what we hope is a great team and experience.

Some tips to help you get started

Note: If you are already an experienced runner/walker, you are welcome and encouraged to participate by registering for the run, and invited to collect donations to support MEOW.

Register for the Run Today - If you are able to raise at least $250, MEOW will pay your registration fee and you'll be entered into a drawing for a prize.

Of course we'll have other prizes to encourage and reward training and fundraising, and because it's FUN!
